Lo scorso anno hanno schierato una formazione da “leccarsi i baffi” attingendo dalla nazionale U23 del Belgio e dai campioni europei universitari di 7s. Sono stati vincitori a Zeebrugge nel 2011, e quando si parla di beach rugby in Belgio non c’è altra squadra che “calamitizzi” di più l’attenzione di questi ruggers da sabbia. Quindi il “Beach Telegraph” con piacere annuncia il secondo sfidante per il BIG BANG del week-end di Lignano: le “calamite da Ghent” .. THE GHENT MAGNETS. Nelle ultime due stagioni questa eccezionale squadra, guidata dal capitano Sander Van Wassenhove, si è spianata la strada verso la classifica alta del beach5’s europeo. Con delle prestazioni “magnetiche”, ma a volte incostanti, hanno guadagnato riconoscimenti per essere considerati una forza del beach rugby europeo, e per la stagione in arrivo probabilmente tutte e 4 le tappe delle Beach Rugby Series by E.B.R.A. dovranno fare i conti con questa formazione. Sulla carta potrebbe ambire al podio in tutti e quattro i tornei

When it comes to Beach Rugby in Belgium, there is no other team that ‘ATTRACTS’ as much attention as these guys. And so it’s with great pleasure that we announce the 2nd Challenger for SUPER BEACH 5′S ‘BIG BANG 2′ weekend, the ultimate event in the Beach 5′s Rugby calendar, this coming JULY 20-21……it’s Belgium’s & Flanders finest,….. THE GHENT MAGNETS.
In the last 2 seasons, led bySander Van Wassenhove, this exceptional squad have muscled and dazzled their way to the top table of European Beach 5′s Rugby. With top class performances in Belgium, Portugal and Italy, the boys from Flanders have proved time and again that they are a real ‘FORCE’ to be reckoned with.
Winners in Zeebrugge in 2011, they showed a lot of promise in 2012. However the rewards didn’t materialise and so last season proved to be a significant learning curve. For sure they know what it takes to become Champions but will 2013 prove to be their year ? With this in mind, some interesting questions come to mind;
- Does Belgium produce some of the finest beers in the world ? YES
- Does Belgium produce some of the finest chocolates in the world ? YES
- Does Belgium produce some of the finest Beach 5′s players in the world ?……….
